‘Dallas’ star has gone vegan

Hagman and co-star Josh Henderson

But that’s been the scenario for months now — at least for the man who made the Texas oilman character a household name and is resurrecting him in the new “Dallas” on TNT.

Larry Hagman, who was diagnosed a few months back with a treatable form of cancer, told me and a gaggle of other reporters after a TNT press session, that he’s sworn off meat on the advice of his longtime TV wife, Linda Gray, alias Sue Ellen, who looks healthy, fit and fantastic at the age of 71.

“Miss Gray said ‘Well, you’ve got to be a vegan now’,” Hagman, 80, recalled. “I said, ‘Are you kidding?’ and she said, ‘no, it’ll help you get you off those steroids that meats and turkey and chicken and beef have and it’ll cleanse your body’.”
So, Gray got him a chef. “And she put me on this diet. I drink these diet things, made of kale, and spinach and cucumber, and no onions or garlic or anything like that.
“That’s all I’ve been on for four months,” the native Texan said.
Is it working? “It makes me feel great!” Hagman said.
OK, but would “J.R.” ever go vegan? Quipped the actor: “If there was money in it, yeah.”
