Top 12 Reasons to Go Vegan in 2012
There are lots of great reasons to go vegan. Now that the New Year is almost upon us, and many of us are thinking about New Year’s Resolutions, let’s bring them to the forefront and talk about WHY you should GO VEGAN in 2012!
1. Help the planet – Not to overwhelm you, but the consumption of animals contributes to pollution, land degradation, deforestation, global warming, and water scarcity.
2. Help animals – By refusing to consume animals, you’re helping to end animal cruelty and factory farming. Win win!
3. Help yourself - eating a whole-foods plant-based diet is the best way to ensure you and your family live long, healthy lives!
4. Support the movement – Together, we can make a difference!
5. Ease your digestion – Meat and dairy are very binding!
6. Cleanse – A back-to-the basics style of eating (legumes, grains, fruits and veggies) is very cleansing.
7. Lose or maintain weight – A vegan diet high in protein and low in saturated fats can help you lose or maintain weight.
8. Increase energy – Without all that animal protein weighing you down, and all those healthy grains and proteins, you will feel zingier than a Starbucks barista.
9. Join the ranks of some foxy celebs – Did you hear about BeyoncĂ©?
10. Reduce your footprint – Animals consume more pro calories than they produce, which alone makes animal farming an unsustainable use of resources. Yikes!
11. Get creative in the kitchen—with your new vegan diet, you will have a plethora of new vegan recipes to try!
12. Connect. There is a great vegan community out there, and you’re invited!
